LIGHT HEART LIGHT MIND
After a week of officially launching “That Alex Ciccone” I finally had a few moments to sit back and soak things in. I have been feeling extremely light on my feet, not literally, but emotionally, which is all too familiar – these are the exact kind of feelings that came over me when I first made the decision to go vegan. All in all I am very grateful for life and grateful for you.
If you don’t much about my story and how I became vegan check out my 'about' page, but in short it was for the ethical treatment of animals. Previous to becoming vegan I was one of those token individuals who said “I love animals” yet continued to consume or use animal-based products. This is exactly why I don’t pass judgement on anyone in my life and always lend support through love and care because we all have or have had blind spots. Unless we are presented with more information or an alternative it is very easy to continue living in the only way we know how.
In saying that, once I ditched meat, dairy, eggs and other animal-based products, an unimaginable weight was lifted off my shoulders. Helping my animal friends rather than hurting them brought immediate peace and happiness into my heart and mind. It opened a purposeful path in spreading awareness so that I can help others like you find that same peace and happiness.
Although my personal reason to go vegan was for the animals, this same kind of experience can happen in different ways for different individuals. Have you ever caught yourself thinking about going vegan? Or if you are already vegan, have you recounted the reasons that strengthen your resolve? Reflecting on these reasons why can be a fantastic way to take that next step or stay the course and they can come in many forms. But most notably they come from what I call "The Big 3"…
1. Ethical treatment of animals
2. Personal Health
Trust in your feelings and try not to supress your curiosity because there may be a lot of value for you in living a vegan life. The photo above sums up everything so perfectly for me personally. I am overjoyed to the point that I have tears of joy in my eyes and can’t stop smiling and laughing.
We all have the choice and option to live a cruelty free life and it has the power to undo any kind of heavy burden we may be intentionally or unintentionally suppressing. The decision is all yours and I am a strong believer that it is a much easier one to make in this day in age because of the plethora of vegan resources and information available at our fingertips.
For those of you reading this that are already vegan, I encourage you to be a beacon of support for those around you who may show some personal interest in the lifestyle and to nurture that relationship with love and care. For those who are not vegan, I hope you find value in the content provided and that it gives you confidence to take that next step. Know that there is no need to be perfect, just enjoy the ever evolving process and have some fun with it!
